OUR FAMOUS QUICK TIPS AND RUMORS
***** - Station Casinos will officially open their
$662 million, 18th Las Vegas area property at 11:11pm on November 11 (11/11/08).
Called Aliante Station Casino & Hotel and located in the new
Aliante Planned Community in North Las Vegas, the property
will include 202 guest rooms (including two 1400ft presidential suites.),
14,000 sq ft of convention and meeting space, 6 new dining establishments and
a concert and show venue.
Gaming will include all the usual table and electronic games (2500
multi-denomination slots), as well as a modern sports book, a poker room and
a high limit VIP area.
***** - The Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel
opened it's doors on the Boulder Strip at 8pm on August 28. The $250 million,
16-story, bronze, saw-toothed, resort tower features 300 oversized modern rooms,
an array of dining options, 2100 slot machines, and all the usual gaming
amenities including a large bingo hall. Rounding out the new resort is over 20,000
sq ft of ballroom/meeting space, 600 sq ft corner window suites with in-room spas
and 900 sq ft executive suites on the top floor.
**** - Despite former rumors of possibly reopening in June,
The Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel, has announced that the remainder of
Tony Braxton's Tony Braxton: Revealed shows have been cancelled due
to medical issues. The show has been dark since early April and was scheduled
to close in August 2008 after a nearly 2 year stint.
***** - UPDATE After 65 years on the Las Vegas Strip, The New
Frontier Hotel and Casino, one of the oldest remaining venues on the Strip,
and the former home to Seigfried and Roy, Elvis Presley and other Las Vegas
favorites, closed its doors Sunday (July 22) at Midnight. The property
has been bought by the Elad Group, owners of the Plaza Hotel in New York, for
a reported $1.2 billion, and they plan on demolishing the current hotel to erect
a new $5 billion, Plaza Hotel style resort with 3500 rooms, a casino, private
condos and shops by 2011.
UPDATE: The New Frontier is slated for implosion at 2:30am on November 13 by
Controlled Demolition, the same folks who brought down the Landmark,
Aladdin,
Hacienda, Sands and most recently the Stardust.
