November 30, 1995 - The Rio Hotel and Casino is in the process of a 185 million dollar expansion which will include a number of new facilities and an impressive, 40 story tower to house an additional 1015 suites. As shown in the Rio commissioned artist's model above, the new tower will stand to the Southeast of the current casino, hotel and garage on the edge of Flamingo Blvd.

The addition of the new tower will increase total room capacity to 2569 rooms in the all-suite hotel and increase total casino and entertainment floor space by another 120,000 square feet, including 60,000 square feet of new retail and entertainment space. In addition more parking garage space, a larger pool area and more restaurants are in the agenda. Another 600 slot machines and 27 more table games will also be added.

The new "Entertainmnet Casino Village" will feature a new "Mardi Gras Sky Parade" over the entire casino area, Rio's own winery and restaurant and even a wedding chapel.

Expected completion date is spring 1997. Plans are also in the works for an additional, totally separate, hotel-casino on the newly purchased 22 acres of land just north and adjacent to the Rio.
